Industrial arts

Period 7

Teachers:
Undergraduate degree programs in industrial arts train students to craft wood and metal, repair machinery, use hand tools, make technical drawings, prepare food, and design such items as clothes, furniture and appliances.

Art

Teachers:
Foundations of Art. Introduces students to the materials, techniques, concepts, and processes essential to understanding the visual arts and the role of the artist, through a series of projects, readings, class critiques, videos, slide presentations, and various kinds of field trips.

Mathematics

Second semester of the two-semester sequence MATH 101-102. Seminar times will be arranged during the first week of classes.

Music

Teachers:
This class introduces students to the rudiments of Western music through oral, aural, and written practice utilizing rhythm, melody, intervals, scales, chords, and musical notation. The approach is based upon the inclusive Kodály philosophy of music education.

Science

Teachers:
This course acquaints students with astronomy concepts including basic facts about the Earth, moon, and stars. Also included for study are galaxies, cosmology, and space exploration. Emphasizes the interrelationships of physical geography, chemistry, geology and biological studies in the ocean environment.
